Greenfields installed a 130kW Dimplex ground source heat pump system for the Lake District National Park Authority at Brockhole Visitor Centre in Windermere, providing a sustainable heating solution for the busy public facility.
The installation forms part of the National Park Authority’s efforts to reduce environmental impact while maintaining reliable heating for the centre.
System Installed
The system features an innovative FlowGenie lake collector system installed beneath the pier, allowing the building to harness renewable heat directly from Lake Windermere.
A total of 300 metres of header pipe connects to seven FlowGenie collectors, delivering sustainable heating to the visitor centre while maximising system efficiency and overcoming the structural challenges of installing infrastructure in a lakeside environment.
The centre’s heating requirements can also be supplemented by a gas boiler system, although this is only needed on rare occasions.
