Renewable Energy Installation in Carleton Village, Penrith

We recently completed a full renewable energy installation at a four-bedroom new build property in Carleton Village, Penrith.

Although the property originally included a gas combi boiler, the homeowner decided to move towards a lower-carbon, future-focused energy setup that generates more of the home’s energy on-site.

Greenfields designed and installed the complete solution, including Solar PV, battery storage, a Samsung Generation 7 R290 air source heat pump, and supporting electrical upgrades.

The result is an integrated energy system designed to generate, store and use energy more efficiently.

This project combined Solar PV and battery storage to help maximise the use of electricity generated at the property.

Solar panels generate electricity throughout the day, while battery storage allows surplus energy to be stored and used later when demand is higher.

By combining generation and storage, the homeowner can make greater use of self-generated electricity and reduce reliance on imported energy.

The system also creates greater flexibility for future energy requirements.

As part of the wider project, Greenfields also installed a 12kW Samsung Generation 7 R290 air source heat pump.

One of the homeowner’s considerations was whether extensive changes to the existing heating system would be needed. Because the Samsung Generation 7 system can operate at temperatures of up to 65°C — similar to a traditional boiler — only minimal changes were required.

Out of the 15 radiators in the property:

  • only two required upgrading
  • one was replaced with a larger double radiator
  • no pipework changes were required

This helped minimise disruption throughout the installation.

To support the wider system, Greenfields also upgraded the property’s electrical consumer unit.

Inside the garage, a 225-litre cylinder and a combined buffer tank were installed with integrated controls.

The completed setup allows the homeowner to manage heating, hot water and energy use through connected controls and a simple user interface.

The renewable heating installation at the property was completed in just three days.

Because only minor radiator upgrades were required and no major pipework alterations were needed, disruption was kept to a minimum during this stage of the project.
